REVIEW: Wirefly Mobile Cellphone Plans
The following is a sponsored review. My Tech Lists does not accept ALL review sponsorship requests, only those of programs or products that we feel strongly about. All sponsored reviews are disclosed upfront.
Have you ever had a cable guy come knock on your door? If so did you talk to him/her to see what they had to offer? Probably not…but you know what? You missed out. The door to door salesman ALWAYS has better deals than the company does when you call them direct. I know because I used to be a door to door cable guy…and we always had tricks up our sleeves to give you a better deal than if you called the cable company yourself. Why am I talking about this?
Because Wirefly is kind of like that. When I got the alert from Review Me that I could review Wirefly I was kind of hesitant, because I don’t do a TON of cellphone coverage, but my Cingular contract is coming up, so I thought I’d give it a look, if for nothing else, than to see if there was a good offer for me there from another provider. I’ve been wanting to get a smart phone, but Cingular hasn’t been making me any good offers (what with me being a pre-existing customer and all)…so I gave Wirefly a look.
I was INSTANTLY reminded of when I was a cable guy.
I looked up local offers for myself from T-Mobile, and there were 17 free phone for me to choose from. 10 of them even had rebates that would let me pocket $50 bucks on top getting the phone at no cost…and (surprisingly) these were just crappy phones no one would want either.
A few of them include:
RIM BlackBerry 7105t w/bluetooth headset
RIM BlackBerry 7290
RIM BlackBerry 8700g
Nokia 6030 w/ myFaves
Motorola RAZR V3 (Camera Phone)
7 of the free phones even include bluetooth headsets for free as well.
Color me impressed.
I went through the entire checkout process to make sure there was no last minute “oh wait, we need $100 deposit” or anything like that, and everything checks out.
If you’re looking for a new wireless carrier, than you might want to check out what Wirefly can do for you before you go buy the Cingular or T-Mobile store. They also offer Pay-As-You-Go Plans, and support every carrier you can think of.
Have you had a good or bad experience using Wirefly? Let me know in the comments below.

Hi, Michael–
Good review. The comparison to the days of door-to-door sales is a good one, I think… because it’s true! The deals offered by online third-party retailers like Wirefly are always going to be better than the carriers themselves.
My experience with Wirefly was excellent. The order process was easy, I got a RAZR for free — no cost up-front, with no rebates to bother with. The phone arrived on time, and worked right out of the box. I’ll use them again. FWIW, I’ve read recently that many companies, including Wirefly, are backing off on relying heavily on rebates. The dawn of a new era!

Everything went well i thought, the shipping was fast. but when i went to contact them about a bill problem i got nothing. i bout a phone through t-mobile and wirefly never send t-mobile that i payed the activation fee and first mouths payment. you can not contact wirefly excepted by mail. then they were sloppy with the box. they cut the bar code in half so then when i sent it in for the rebate it could not be processed.
so wirefly cost me more money then i should of been. the rebate $50, and then $74.99 for activation fee and first mouths payment. that is $124.99 money that i am missing because of it.
i thought that i was getting a great deal.
Wirefly service is the worst I have experienced in years. Order from Wirefly at your peril. I rarely write online reviews or leave comments to reviews, but my experience with Wirefly is so horrible that it would be ethically wrong to remain silent. Don’t be fooled, you will regret it.
